先日の土曜日はまたサイクリングへ。
もう週末の日課になっていますね。
お供は友人KT。
つくばりんりんロードを目指して出発しましたが、途中から予定を変更してつくば道へ行ってみることに。
つくば道というのは筑波山の南西の麓、県道139号線の一部、日本の道１００選にも選ばれた道で、江戸時代に三代将軍徳川家光が、筑波山神社を再建するため資材運搬用の道路として整備したのが起源なんだそうです。

北条の町からつづら折りではなくほぼまっすぐに登って行きます。
ギアを一番軽くしても息が切れる程の傾斜。
途中からは漕いで登ることができず、押して登ることに。
しばらく登っていくと、立派な鳥居が現れます。
筑波山神社一の鳥居で、1759年に造られたそうで、ここから上が神域とされているんだそうです。

この鳥居からは舗装がアスファルトからコンクリートに変わり、さらに傾斜がきつくなります。
何と約２５％の勾配だそうですよ。
うひーっ！自転車を押して登るだけでもツライです。
何かウォーキングのイベントがあったようで、ゼッケンを付けた登山（下山？）客の方と何人もすれ違いました。
自転車で登って来たことにえらく感心されてしまいました。
さらに登っていくと、旧筑波山郵便局の建物が現れます。

向かって左側が私てつです。顔出しは無しですが。
ここから先は階段になるので自転車を担いで登りました。
自動車道に突き当たり、ここでつくば道も終了です。
左に曲がりしばらく行くと筑波山神社の大鳥居。
休日で紅葉シーズンのせいか、駐車場も満車で登山客もたくさんおり、今話題の「山ガール」も何人も見掛けました（笑）
そこから少し下ったところにある筑波山梅林で展望台に登ってみましたが、ちょっと靄がかかっており、いつもは見える霞ヶ浦や牛久大仏、富士山なんかもあまり良く見えず残念。
梅林からつくし湖方面へ抜ける道は神社付近の賑やかさが嘘のように人も車も通らず快適な走行が出来ました。
登りは何時間もかかるのに下りは一瞬ですね。
後でサイクルコンピューターで確認したら53km/h程出ていたようです。
筑波山を下った後はりんりんロードで真壁方面へ。
道がこんな風に凹凸になっている場所がありました。
何のため？
そんな感じで本日の走行距離は53キロメートルでした。
以前筑波登山にチャレンジした時は全然登れなかったのですが、今回は前回よりは楽に登ることができました。
ビンディングペダルのお陰か、それとも段々と慣れてきたということでしょうか。
さて、次回はどこへ行こうか。
